I was/am grateful for the life saving treatment in cath lab; on ward care was inconsistent,
An episode of projectile vomiting sprayed foot board and bed side, while I was adequately cared for IE: bed changed, mouth rinse my vomit remained on foot board for duration of my stay (2nights), despite weekly bed frame clean on day two.
I wasn't offered the opportunity to clean/sanitise my hands after commode use or prior to eating and had to request this.
I had to request water, it was not offered.
I was unable to eat food provided on menu:- battery egg, chips, chicken (boiled or curried), muller yogurt ( no natural or kefir yogurt available), no salad option or baked potato.
The available choices were high in sugar/salt, with poor nutritional value. Unappetising and neither freshly prepared nor cooked. I spent my time eating unappetising sandwiches, soup, ice cream but had the personal foresight to order fruit, although choice was limited.
It seems basic nursing care of cleanliness, hydration, nutrition has been lost.
