Excellent service after I broke my wrist from attending A&E, nurse and consultant were very professional. Consultant assessed and arranged x rays for a prompt diagnosis.
Plaster room experience not so good, nurses chatting over me, not listening to consultant and nearly missed my x ray until I told them and discharged with no pain relief.
Surgical admission ward- the nurse I saw was an asset to the NHS. Fantastic personality, very caring and compassionate. Another nurse was lovely too. We had a good chat, put my mind at rest. The Anaesthetist was so caring and compassionate. Spent time with me and ensured I had all the information to enable me to make an informed choice around my treatment. They put my mind and rest and really listened which is rare these days. Another asset to the NHS Tayside.
My surgeon was fantastic, they who took the time to explain the surgery and ensured I was aware of what to expect after surgery in relation to care and treatment. Even came to check on me after surgery. Again fantastic care and compassion. A significant asset to NHS Tayside.
They explained the tools used around surgery in relation to block and sedation. Thank you for taking the time to do so, it meant a great deal. The aftercare appointment ensured I was on the correct track in relation to physiotherapy. A huge thankyou also to the theatre team.
My story comes from my background as a health professional. I am aware of the significant pressures on the health service and especially the staff. Despite this the team were excellent, so caring and compassionate. I cannot thanks them enough!
One recommendation would be that the discharge information from orthopaedics provides information on when to start exercising out of removable cast, prior to consultant follow up appointment. The information provided was basic and I did feel that held back my recovery.
