"Broken facilities affecting basic comfort"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73)

(as the patient),

During my nine-night postnatal care after emergency c-section, the toaster and kettle were broken, and the shower on my ward was out of order, requiring me to walk to another ward after major surgery. These issues affected my dignity, recovery, and basic comfort.

Dear SuzieB,

I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on Care Opinion. I hope all is well with you and congratulations on the arrival of your new baby. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the lack of amenities during your visit. Even if it's not ideal, there is always a lag between raising facilities for repair and the actual repair taking place. I have brought these concerns to the attention of the ward manager.

Feel free to get in touch with me if you want to talk about them in more detail. Details are provided below.

Kind Regards,

Tracy Orr

Update posted by SuzieB (the patient)

Thank you for your reply and I appreciate that some things take time to fix especially the shower. However it was disappointing that the staff kettle was working but we weren't allowed to use it. I would have thought there might be a quicker solution in place for kettle/toaster breakages.
