"Skills, care and compassion"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU)

(as a relative),

my husband was admitted to Adult Critical Care UHW. He had a unsurvivable brain bleed. From his admission until he died recently, I witnessed care and compassion way beyond what I had experienced before. I was in awe of the skills of the staff and stunned when I found out the grade that they were, especially dealing with all the equipment and the level of responsibility in caring for my husband.

My husband was cared for and included in all conversations even though he was not conscious. The respect and dignity shown moved me often.

All staff made me feel that I too was being cared for and looked after. From the domestics to the Consultants everyone showed genuine interest and care. I cant thank them enough for helping me and my family through this difficult time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of ACCU.

I am truly sorry for your loss, and can only imagine how difficult this time has been for you. It means a great deal to know that, even in the midst of such sadness, you felt supported and cared for by our team, and that your husband was treated with dignity and respect.

Our staff take great pride in delivering compassionate, person-centred care to both patients and their families, and your kind words are deeply appreciated.

I hope that the care and support you received brought even a small measure of comfort during such a heartbreaking time. Your feedback has touched us all, and we’re incredibly grateful you took the time to share it.
