"Ambulance Crew Outstanding Care and Compassion"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

Ambulance Crew members Colin and Nadine,

Arrived following my call to emergency services for chest pain. As a complex needs patient with long standing health problems I have become familiar with paramedic crews. Aware of my difficult challenges past and present.

They carried out their job and left feeling like they hadn't really done anything but sometimes just taking the time to listen and sit in the mud with a patient and although they might seem like small things make a huge positive impacts because when things are difficult it provides hope that things can and will be better and nothing is more powerful than hope. I wanted you both to know that matters and I appreciated it.

Thank you Colin and Nadine am grateful truly if it wasn't for the dark we never see the stars.

Dear Itsokaynottobeokayvet,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve been through such a difficult time, but I’m so glad that Colin and Nadine were there for you when you needed them most.

Sometimes, as you’ve so beautifully expressed, it’s not just about the clinical care—it’s about being present, listening and showing compassion. Your words are a powerful reminder of how much those “small” moments can mean, and I’ll make sure your message is shared with Colin and Nadine so they know the difference they made.

If you’d like us to pass your story directly to Colin and Nadine, we’d be grateful if you could email us at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with a few more details. Specifically, we’d need the name, date, time, and address of the call-out so we can match it with our records. Please also include your Care Opinion username in the email so we can link your message to this story and ensure it reaches the right team.

Thank you again for taking the time to share this—it really does matter.

Warmest wishes,

Marie
