I will be 70 in a few weeks. I have had excruciating pain in my leg for nearly two weeks. I have been diagnosed with nerve damage due to previous spinal surgery and the pain clinic have prescribed duloxetine which hasn’t yet had any effect.
I contacted my health centre this morning as the pain is unbearable. I can’t stand or walk more than a few steps and have to crawl up the stairs on my hands and knees. I asked for a home visit as I couldn’t walk to get in the car or to the surgery. I was told that it was neither an emergency nor was I registered for a home visit. All the appointments for today were taken ( which was irrelevant as I can’t get to the surgery ) and was told to phone tomorrow for an appointment. No matter how I tried to explain that I wouldn’t be able to get to the surgery, they told me there was nothing they could do. I tried to insist that I at least spoke to a doctor, but the receptionist said they were terminating the call and hung up! I am left with the pain and no help. I have looked at the Scottish Government charter and to me my rights have been breached. I am so disgusted and left with nowhere to go.
