"He could not be in better hands"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Neurosurgery (Brain and Spinal Surgery) Dr Gray's Hospital / Neurology Scottish Air Ambulance

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was diagnosed with three brain aneurisms, two of which had burst and was flown from Elgin to ARI on an emergency night flight.

He was operated on first thing the next morning. I would like to thank all the staff involved from the amazing surgeon down to the dinner ladies for such professional care. Thank you all.

My son has made a full recovery and will return to ERI at the end of the month to have the third non-bleeding aneurism fixed. He could not be in better hands!

Dear peppermx88,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your son’s story. I’m so pleased to hear that he received such professional care and that he’s made a full recovery—that’s truly wonderful news.

It’s lovely to hear your kind words for everyone involved, from the surgical team to the wider hospital staff. I’ll make sure your message is shared with our colleagues in the Scottish Ambulance Service who supported his emergency transfer, so they too can see the impact of their work.

If you’d like us to pass your story directly to the air ambulance crew involved, we’d be grateful if you could email us at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with a few more details. Specifically, we’d need the name, date, time, and address of the call-out so we can match it with our records. Please also include your Care Opinion username in the email so we can link your message to this story and ensure it reaches the right team.

If your son would like to share his own experience, and if it feels appropriate, he’s very welcome to post his own story on Care Opinion. If he’s under 16, he might enjoy doing this with the help of the Care Opinion Bear, which is a friendly way for younger people to share their healthcare experiences.

Wishing him all the very best for his upcoming procedure at ERI. It’s lovely to hear your confidence in the care he’s receiving.

Warmest regards,
Marie Kennedy
