I was brought in the day after my 7 week scan for treatment for hyperemisis. This was a massively quick turnaround and something I will be forever grateful for.
I didn't give the nurses the easiest time trying to get a vein for bloods or cannula as my veins were practically non existent. The nurses were so good, they continued to try so I could get the treatment I needed, while making me feel calm and not making me feel like a nuisance. After several attempts and help from 2 phlebotomists we were able to access a vein for treatment. The nurses couldn't do enough for me, bringing me toast and tea and checking on me often.
After the treatment was completed I felt much more 'human.' the nurses and doctors were so understanding about everything that I was feeling and even assessed my moods which were low considering the trouble I was having and signposted me to services which could help. They gave me a pregnancy sickness care package which was such a lovely gift when you feel at your lowest. They sorted out medication for going home and talked me through everything to ensure I was confident in what I was taking and how I take it.
There was another lady in at the time, and having that companionship for the day with someone who was feeling the same as me, and sharing experiences made me feel much less alone in all of this.
"Nurses and doctors were so understanding about everything"
