"Dismissive attitude of doctor"

About: Park Lane Surgery

(as the patient),

I completed online triage form for an appointment with my GP and received an appointment.

I am writing to raise a concern regarding the care I recently received at your surgery.

I contacted my GP online regarding an ongoing problem and was sent a text message advising that my appointment was booked. I felt this was far too long to wait given that I am still in pain, so I telephoned the surgery to explain my situation.

I was informed that this was the doctor’s decision. When I expressed that I could not wait that long, the member of staff I spoke to consulted the doctor again, but I was told the decision was final. I was left feeling flabbergasted and dismissed.

I have been a patient at this surgery for over 30 years. However, I have become increasingly concerned with the decline in service. I appreciate that doctors are under significant pressure, but a degree of understanding and compassion should not be overlooked, particularly when a patient is suffering.

Regrettably, due to this experience, I have now decided to register with another highly recommended practice. I am very disappointed that it has come to this.
