"Staff are very attentive and helpful"

About: Cancer Services / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

Coming to my appointments here at Radiotherapy has been fine. Staff are very attentive and helpful, exceptionally good in fact. They have been good at accommodating times of appointments for me which is very helpful as I come from Perth and there are a lot of roadworks at the moment, both in Perth itself and on the dual carriageway coming from Perth to Dundee, which is causing major delays to the traffic.

The main issue I have is car parking and the stress it causes - if you were getting your blood pressure checked it would be sky high by the time you got into the appointment! Also the disabled spaces in the car park badly need to be re-painted because the original markings have all faded away and it is very difficult to see the lines.

Also I think the signage could be improved at the main entrance and there should also be a clear sign showing people that Radiotherapy is downstairs. I got lost the first time I came and ended up in the wrong waiting room!

Dear Archie93, thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience of our Radiotherapy Department. My name is Bob, one of the Support Workers who would have welcomed you to our department.

It is gratifying to hear you regard our staff as “exceptionally good” and that we have been able to accommodate preferable appointment times to mitigate the numerous road works between Perth and Dundee. It is always our intention to make our patients’ time with us as comfortable as possible. I will pass on your kind words to our staff groups, thank you.

I am sorry that the parking situation caused you so much stress. As stated beforehand, we do as much as we can to make patients as comfortable and stress free as possible. Our Head of Department, Damian Parr, continues to take this ongoing issue to management meetings and I will advise him also now, of the faded lines which can be passed on to the car park operators.

I will also check out the signage to our department. I believe that there is a sign directing our department downstairs but this appears to have been inadequate as you did not find your way on the first occasion.

On behalf of everyone here, I hope you benefit from your treatment and wish you well for the future.

Kind regards... Bob
