"This has given me my independence back"

About: Occupational Therapy / Physical Disability & Sensory Impairment (PDSI)

(as a service user),

My journey started in February 2025. An occupational therapist done an assessment at my home to see if there was any support they could help me to be able to carry out my personal care. Until this I had to rely on my daughter to be able to assist me with this. I did on most days use a basin in my bedroom to wash myself. Julie came at and she tried various equipment to asses what could help me.

After trying various items, none of these were sufficient and able to support me to become more independent. Julie put me forward for a wet room which was completed a couple of weeks ago. I am so grateful and relieved how much this has impacted on my daily needs. My personal care routine in manageable for me for the first time in so many years. I feel this has given me my independence back and it has been a life saver with all the hot weather we have had. I am independent at again. Thank you.
