"Compassionate and highly skilled"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Pain Services Elective Orthopaedics / Department of Scheduled Admissions (DOSA)

(as the patient),

I honestly could not fault the Pain Management Team under Dr Nagaraja, Consultant in Pain Medicine & Clinical Lead. From the assistance I have had over a number of years from Jennifer, Medical Secretary, of whom I have found to be highly skilled in her role and very efficient; through to the staff on the Theatre ward and within (pink zone) Theatres where I go for the same pain reducing procedure each and every time.

The theatre nurses always keep me entertained as I try hard to not think about the procedure I am there to have done (it can be a bit nippy!). They chat with me about anything and everything (at my own request!), they are always so very friendly and compassionate though above all, they are genuinely interested. The nursing staff, anaesthetist and radiography staff retain my dignity as I struggle to move between the surgical table and the theatre trolley, they explain the procedure point by point, they undertake the process quickly to avoid prolonging what is a rather uncomfortable procedure. They are compassionate and highly skilled, I am always so very grateful to them for their commitment to the NHS.

Above all, I could never fault Dr Nagaraja who has been my Pain Consultant for many years, he is an asset to the NHS and quite obviously leads by example, he is highly skilled and what a leader looks like, he appears to be well received by his staff and respected by them, he is an all round quite genuine excellent Consultant who I and it appears, many others, think highly of.

Honestly could not fault the Pain Management Team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Dear Mrs MB,

Thank you for your kind words. I’m very glad to hear that the Pain Team and Theatre staff helped make your experience as positive as possible under the circumstances.

Our staff strive to provide excellent care, and it means a great deal when patients take the time to share their appreciation. I will ensure your message is shared with all the teams involved.

I hope you continue to experience relief from your treatment and wish you all the very best in your recovery.

Warm regards,
Alison McKenzie

Nurse Manager
