I had planned for a natural birth at the Princess Royal Maternity, but after 41 hours in labour and my baby being back-to-back, I was offered a C-section by the on-duty doctor on labour ward. His name was Greg and he was extremely kind, understanding, positive and he did a wonderful job of the surgery, which unexpectedly involved the removal of a large ovarian cyst.
He and the surgical team were flawless and lovely people. An ODP, Petra, took great care of me during the surgery and was very reassuring. I also received great care from the two midwives, Sara and Erin, who took care of me on labour ward despite being in quite a bad way during a complicated delivery.
The anaesthetist on duty the night before and early that morning was also wonderful and very positive and reassuring when giving me an epidural.
I thought the staff were excellent on labour ward, that the environment was very calm and that the labour ward was very well run despite it being very busy.
I can’t thank everyone involved enough for the delivery of my little boy, which felt like a miracle.
"The staff were excellent"
