"No follow up"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Endoscopy

(as a parent/guardian),

My son attended UHM for an Urgent Colonoscopy early July 2025 and was given a report with diagnosis of Colitis. Biopsies were taken. To date, he has had no further communication. It has been over 2 months. He called a few weeks ago and spoke to a secretary who was able to tell him that biopsies were back but no follow up letter yet done but she would send an email chaser. Whilst we are grateful he was seen quickly, we can't understand why it is taking so long for any follow up.

He doesn't know if he will get medication, see a consultant or a nurse and in the meantime, his symptoms continue. He needs to be able to get on top of this and understand how he can manage them and if this is going to be with medication. He is an adult therefore I understand I can't be given any information but he is aware I am sending this care opinion. I would really like someone to give him an update of some sort as soon as possible to put his, and mine, minds at rest.

Dear Febja 54

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your son's recent attendance for scope.

I can appreciate that this is a worrying time for your son and yourself and would be happy to see what I can do to help with this.

If you son can email me at lynn.mctavish2@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk with his details I can look into this for him.

Kind regards

Lynn

Thanks for replying. I've asked him to make contact. That's 10 weeks today since he was seen and still nothing. I hope you can help him.
