My parents (Dad, in his 90s and blind) and (Mum, in her 90s and vision impaired) recently attended Hairmyres Hospital Audiology Dept for hearing aid checks.
ATO Gordon was very kind and listened to their issues with their hearing giving them time to speak about their concerns. He explained fully what he was doing by testing the hearing aids and made adjustments within his scope to maximise the benefits to my parents hearing. We also noted that Gordon's hand hygiene practice was excellent and he took particular care cleaning the equipment (daughters attending with parents retired from clinical roles in NHS).
Gordon called on colleague Audiologist David, for further advice and examination, who also treated my parents with respect and kindness taking time to give a full explanation of what may be achieved with an up to date hearing assessment. Follow on appointments were arranged to suit their needs in a suitable timeframe.
Our experience in Audiology Dept was a great example of patient-centred Care and these two Audiology team members, Gordon and David, should be commended on their professional practice and are a credit to your service.
"A great example of patient-centred care"
