My GP recently referred me for a transvaginal ultrasound scan. I expected that this would be like a pregnancy ultrasound but when the appointment letter arrived, the information leaflet was clear that it was an internal scan. I have previously had very painful cervical smear tests and so I found the prospect of this invasive procedure quite stressful. However, when I arrived for my appointment, both the nurse and the radiographer were wonderfully reassuring, caring and professional. They helped me control my anxiety by slowing down my breathing and they took their time with everything, making sure I was in the best position and talking me through each step. In the end, it was not a painful procedure at all. I just want to express my deep appreciation for their kind and respectful care. It made such a difference. I'm afraid I don't remember the nurse's name - she introduced herself at the beginning but I was still in panic mode at that point! I believe the radiographer was called Nicola. Both were absolutely great and I just wanted to say a warm 'thank you' to them for their care.
