About: Maternity / Hypnobirthing Classes Maternity / Journey to Parenthood Programme

(as a service user),

Both midwives who are delivering the antenatal classes on zoom are great! They are encouraging and down to earth.

However I think it’s a pity that the South Eastern Trust are not providing any hypnobirthing sessions. They have been suspended. This is something I was really looking forward to doing during my pregnancy.

Thank you for taking the time to reflect on your personal experience of attending the online Antenatal Education Journey to Parenthood programme. This will be shared with the staff who provided your education class.

Following the Covid Pandemic, we have adapted to delivering education sessions via a range of formats both virtual and in person. The South Eastern Trust would like to commit fully in providing 100% face to face education sessions but at present financial and staffing resources require the adoption of a blended approach to ensure we reach all women and their birth partners who intend to birth within our maternity services.

Unfortunately Hypnobirthing has been temporarily suspended and I assure you that your opinion will be escalated to the senior Midwifery team to reconsider this decision. This change highlights the disparity of service provision across Maternity services within Northern Ireland Health and Social Care which we must address.
