I first got acquainted with Talking Therapies when I visited a MS conference. I noticed their table had lots of information regarding assorted therapies.
At the time I was suffering from anxiety and frustration, due to my illness (MS).
I spoke to the friendly team and signed up for therapy.
At first the team had to distinguish what type of therapy I needed.
I was offered CBT therapy with Emma.
I found Emma to be very knowledgeable and very professional. Every week for 21 weeks I would sit at my laptop and go through my therapy session with her.
After a few weeks I hit a session that included mindfulness. Everything seemed to kick into place. I kept a diary and put the practicality into place. I found I was becoming calmer as the weeks went on. I thought about things a lot more before rushing in. I was slower in my thinking which helped me to recognise fact before opinion. By week 21 I felt like a different person.
I have kept all my works and information sheets in case I have a relapse. But so far my helpful thinking is becoming second nature to me.
I really needed this therapy and I recommend to anyone struggling with their mental health to have this therapy and stick with it.
