"Overwhelmed by the fantastic standard of care"

We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the outstanding care we received during the birth of our daughter at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. From the very beginning of the induction process through to the safe delivery, every member of staff we encountered treated us with the highest level of professionalism, kindness, and compassion.

Although our labour journey was long, difficult, and at times very worrying, we always felt supported, reassured, and cared for. The dedication and skill of the maternity ward and delivery centre staff made what could have been an overwhelming and frightening experience one of safety and trust. Our baby's heart rate dropped a number of times during induction and early labour and had to be delivered during emergency c-section.

We would especially like to thank Hannah and Zoe, our midwives during labour. Their care, warmth, and support went above and beyond anything we could have hoped for. They were not only clinically excellent but also incredibly compassionate, providing reassurance, encouragement, and comfort at every stage. Zoe, although still a student, demonstrated an outstanding level of maturity, empathy, and professionalism – she is clearly destined for a long and successful career as a midwife. Hannah’s calm expertise and kindness gave us confidence and made such a difference throughout the process. Both of them truly deserve the highest recognition for their work, and we will always remember the role they played in bringing our daughter safely into the world.

When our baby’s heart rate dropped and the situation became urgent, we cannot thank Matthew, the surgeon, enough for his decisive and confident actions. His clear leadership and calm, assured manner during such a critical moment were extraordinary, and we felt completely safe knowing we were in his capable hands. His expertise and quick decisions ensured our baby's safe delivery, and we are deeply grateful for that. The anaesthetist, who supported was also professional, kind and confident.

We would also like to give special thanks to Adam, the ODP in theatre, whose professionalism, kindness, and reassuring presence made a huge difference during what was a very intense and emotional time. His support helped us feel more at ease and cared for while we were in theatre, and we will always remember his kindness.

Overall, we are truly overwhelmed by the fantastic standard of care we received. Every member of staff we met showed dedication, compassion, and professionalism that went far beyond our expectations. We feel incredibly lucky and thankful that our daughter's birth was overseen by such a wonderful team, and we will always hold them in the highest regard.
