"A wonderful asset to your team"

About: Adult Health & Support Services / Hospital Social Work Team

(as a relative),

My mum was supported by Calum prior to leaving hospital to go into care.

This was a very stressful time for us all as a family after 6 weeks of Mum being in hospital.

Having spoken to another member of the team initially, who I found to be terribly factual and matter of fact, it was such a relief to speak to Calum. He was very gentle and understanding whenever I called. He took time to explain the procedures and provide support and advice. Never, did I feel that my mum was just a patient being processed through the system.

As a family we are so grateful that Calum was appointed to look after our Mum as he made the whole experience as comfortable and straightforward as was possible.

I really hope that he is well valued and supported as an employee as he is a wonderful asset to your team.

Dear Horse13

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience during what must have been a very challenging period for your family.

It’s clear that Calum’s compassion and thoughtful communication made a real difference as your mum transitioned from hospital into care. I’m so glad to hear that his support helped ease some of the stress and made the process feel less clinical.

I’ll make sure your kind words are passed on to Calum and the wider team. Feedback like yours is incredibly valuable - thank you again for sharing.

Dear Horse13

I would like to ensure a sincere thank you for providing feedback on Care Opinion. I have management responsibility for the hospital discharge Social Work team and have passed on your kind words to Calum directly.

I appreciate hospital admissions can often be stressful and difficult for patients and their families. I truly hope your mum has had a positive discharge and I am very glad that input from our team, with recognition of Calum specifically, has been able to support you all effectively and with a person-centred approach, which is a continued priority to the Health and Social Care Partnership for all patients and their families. I feel your feedback really emphasises the importance of this approach, and the positive impact this has and is certainly a quality and skill we value highly within our team.

Best regards

Emma McBride
