"My daughter's treatment"

About: Campbeltown Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Day surgery Scottish Air Ambulance Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter came home from school doubled over with pain, she was being violently sick and was holding her right hand side. I thought she might have appendicitis so I took her to the local A&E at Campbeltown.

We were seen very quickly and the head nurse and doctor who attended her were brilliant.

She had to be flown out by air ambulance. The paramedics who helped her to the air ambulance were lovely and the air ambulance staff were amazing.

When we got to Glasgow A&E we were very well looked after. Every step of her care was amazing. The surgery team were excellent. My daughter was so well looked after with care and dignity.

Dear Beachtoes76,

Thank you so much for sharing your daughter’s story. It must have been incredibly frightening to see her in such pain and needing emergency care. We’re really glad to hear she was looked after so well throughout her journey and we hope she’s now recovering comfortably.

We’re especially grateful for your kind words about the paramedics and air ambulance team. It’s lovely to hear they were not only professional but also kind and reassuring during such a stressful time. We’ll make sure your feedback is passed on to the teams involved as it means a lot to them to know they’ve made a difference.

If you’re happy to share the name, date, time and address of the call out with us at sas.feedback@nhs.scot, along with your Care Opinion username, we’d love to match your story with the crew and share your message with them directly.

Also, if your daughter would like to share her own experience, she might enjoy posting a message to Care Opinion Bear—a friendly way for younger patients to tell their story. You can find out more at https://www.careopinion.org.uk/info/bear.

Wishing you and your daughter all the very best,
Warmest wishes,

Marie

Dear Beachtoes76

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly heartened to hear that your daughter received such compassionate and professional care during what must have been a very worrying time for your family.

We’re especially pleased to know that the staff at the Royal Hospital for Children looked after her with such care and dignity. Your kind words about the surgical and A&E teams reflect the commitment and dedication they bring to their work every day, and your feedback will mean a great deal to them.

We hope your daughter is continuing to recover well, and we’ll be sure to pass on your thanks to the teams involved in her care.

Kind regards

Kevin
