"The helpline did absolutely nothing"

About: Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust / Crisis resolution

(as a friend),

I directed a friend to use the 111 Mental Health Service which directs to GMMH 27/7 Helpline as advertised on their own website. This person has never been involved in MH Services before with GMMH other than once talking to a MH Practitioner via GP some months ago - nothing came from that.

This person is a full-time carer for their partner and has recently hit rock bottom, gradually coming on for the last year, for a few reasons including caring responsibilities. I advised them if they sought help, GMMH could perhaps assist them. This person called, explained or rather poured their heart out explaining what was occurring, including the risk to their own life, that of their partner who they care for, and how they were at risk of a carers breakdown. GMMH 24/7 helpline did absolutely nothing!

Once again what is the point of a crisis service or people on a helpline if people don’t actually get help when they call.
