"Quitting Smoking"

About: Quit your Way / Quit your Way (Glasgow City)

(as the patient),

After finding out towards the end of last year my Niece was expecting her first baby I decided it was time to quit. smoking.  Many years ago i had taken Champix to assist in stopping smoking i did quit for a year but started again.....Now some 15 years later i decided to start the 12 week programme of Varenicline attending my local chemist who offers counselling as well as Louise from Clydebank NHS services who called every every week at the beginning and following up every 2 weeks during the programme offering support which was greatly appreciated and lovely to talk to Louise. I never thought I would be able to stop after so many years but with the help and support i have received if you are thinking of quitting smoking its worth it.  Health wise I feel great and the money i have saved is amazing...

Hi LY1955

It was so inspiring to hear about your quit story. Well done and I am sure your niece will be proud of you - not to mention being smoke-free to enjoy time with your new great niece or nephew.

Louise and her colleagues are all specially trained Quit Your Way advisors and can give the best advice and support to people who want to quit. Using QYW services together with treatments such as Varenicline or NRT has been shown to be the most successful way to stop.

I will pass on your lovely feedback to Louise and her manager and share it with the rest of the team. It's so nice to have this feedback, thank you for taking the time to give it.

Best wishes

Lisa Buck

Well done, and what a lovely journey to take as a new baby arrives in the family. We are delighted that you have found the service to be helpful and that your chats with Louise were able to give you the support as you quit. We wish you and your family all the best as you continue on your journey as a non-smoker and a great-auntie.
