"RAH maternity"

About: Maternity care / Maternity care (Ward 31)

(as the patient),

We had a opted for planned section with our local hospital which meant we were sent to paisley. Paisley failed to see that on the notes and did not make our appointment which straight away left us a bit doubtful. I never did get the phone call back to confirm date but received a text stating our appointment was cancelled and given a rescheduled date. Not exactly how I would of thought to find out but glad we got a date.

Our local maternity asked about pre op which was never mentioned from paisley so my midwife made the appointment just so it was booked.

The care from the RAH staff in theatre and recovery was great. Not one fault and very attentive, however once up in the maternity ward my partner had to chase the nurses 3 times over the space of 2 hours for my medication as I Was due my first lot of morphine and other medication at 5pm and eventually got them after 7pm! We were transferred up to the ward around 3pm.

(just to point out there was plenty of staff and was not busy).

The night-shift nurses were great and very bubbly, checked in and made sure everything was fine.

We were told my partner could not stay so he paid for a hotel only to be told he could stay.

Also seemed to have an issue with the doors into the ward, seemed anyone could get through which for having newborns isn't great security, thankfully we were put in a private room.

The private rooms are great and very spacious.
