"Rude porter"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital

(as a relative),

I was going to visit my uncle on 3 North.

The main lifts were out of order.

My daughter and I went to use the bed lifts and there was a porter waiting with a patient in a chair and 2 pharmacy staff waiting to go up in the lifts.

The porter with the empty chair let everyone in and himself. He then put his arm across and said we couldn't use these lifts, and should go and use the others. He was rude and abrupt I would go as far as to say he was passively aggressive.

I explained they weren't working and he told us to go and use them, they are working now.

Never in my life have I met someone whose behaviour was so rude and ignorant. He humiliated us in front of others.

Hello hippoyg37

Thank you for taking the time to post your Care Opinion.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with one of our portering staff and were spoken to in a way that felt rude and abrupt.

I will pass this on to the portering manager who will address this with the member of staff.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Jill Robinson
