"Stroke and heart surgery"

About: Cardiac Rehab and secondary prevention / Cardiac Rehab (Newry and Mourne) Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Daisy Hill Hospital / Stroke Unit (Level 4) Royal Victoria Hospital / Cardiac surgery

(as the patient),

Took a stroke in 2020 just before Covid hit caused by me having AF then had my mitral valve replaced in 2024. I cant say enough about the emergency and ward staff in Daisyhill or the Royal when I took my stroke.and after the heart surgery. My consultant and surgeon were amazing and the pharmacist at my doctors clinic has been amazing at keeping an eye on my warfarin levels

Dear Donna273,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in both Daisy Hill and Royal Belfast Hospitals. I am delighted to hear you have made a good recovery, having been through so much. I am the Lead Nurse in the Cardiac Surgical ICU in the Royal, where you would have been looked after in the immediate post op period following your mitral valve replacement, and I know all the team will be very pleased to hear your positive feedback.

We wish you continued recovery and good health for the future.

Best wishes,

Caroline
