"The good and not so good"

About: Elective Orthopaedics / Orthopaedic Pre-assessment

(as the patient),

The signs to the wards from the car park were absolutely hopeless. We had to ask a lot of people for directions. It was the same once I was in the hospital. This needs to be improved.

My letter said I had a pre-assessment with the anaesthetic nurse. I thought that this would be a fairly quick appointment, so my partner waited for me. I ended up seeing 5 people and it took about 2.5 hours. It would have been helpful to know this beforehand, so my partner could decide what to do in that time.

Everyone was very kind, especially the consultant, Dr Johnson, the Radiographer, Katie and the OT, Lee. They were exceptional and very kind.

It was so good not to be subjected to the news in the waiting room, and the TV wasn't too loud.

Dear hippoqe55,

Thank you for taking the time to feedback. I will pass on your concerns to the relevant departments re sign posting.

We will take on board your comment and ensure it made known that you will spend a period of time in pre assessment for future appointments as this would be helpful for patients.

The staff will be delighted to hear your feedback about them being very kind, staff in the department thrive to do their best and provide exceptional care.

Kind Regards

Alison McKenzie

Nurse Manager
