About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

Came in with my wife before 6.00, waiting more than 8 and a half hours and still waiting, asked two hours ago if my wife could have two paracetamols, nurse said they would see the doctor, no response from nurse or doctor, still waiting, asked another nurse if my wife is on their list and what about paracetamol, still waiting and not happy.

Dear hadarhb87,

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns regarding your recent visit to our Emergency Department with your wife. I’m very sorry to hear about the long wait and the delay in receiving pain relief, and I sincerely apologise for the distress this caused both of you.

We understand how difficult and frustrating it can be to wait for extended periods, especially when someone is in pain. Our team works hard to prioritise care based on clinical need, but we recognise that communication and timely pain management are essential, and in this instance, we did not meet your expectations.

Please be assured that your feedback has been shared with the relevant staff and senior team to review what happened and ensure improvements are made. We are committed to learning from every experience to provide better care and communication for all our patients and their families.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, and please accept our sincere apologies.

Best Wishes,

Julie.
