Reception
My mum is in her 90s and recently had a fall at some point in the evening. She couldn't say when as she has dementia. On looking at the wrist it did not look right and I was advised by her doctor to call 111. I made the call and was told a 90 minute wait to talk to someone and then left a message for call back from them.

Waiting time
I was advised to take her to A&E at FVRH, where we had a bit of a wait and my mum was getting very tired by this time. We were eventually taken through to see a nurse practitioner who sent her for x-ray to confirm the wrist was fractured. She was initially given a splint but she was in a lot of pain so they decided to get a cast on, so return visit to FVRH. After waiting a short time mum and I were taken to a small side room which we discovered was the plaster room.

Staff attitude

Staff skills
The staff were fantastic with my mum who is a bit of a character, and she kept telling the HSCW Arlene she had lovely teeth ! Nurse Nicole was also on hand and they bother very kind and kept mum going with fun and laughter. As I said my mum is a bit of a character and when the young doctor Craig appeared, it made her day and she gave him a big wink on arrival. She embarrassed him no end with her cheeky patter, telling him how handsome he was ! That was before he manoeuvred her wrist back into correct position for getting the plaster on.

Treatment
It turned out to be a very good experience for both of us, given the circumstances. Well done everyone !
