Had concerns regarding problems with balance, memory and spacial awareness.
Referred to Rotherham Neuro Rehab Outreach Team by Consultant Neurologist at Royal Hallamshire Hospital and was diagnosed with Onset Cerebellar Ataxia. Received appointments with Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist.
The Physiotherapist asked me to carry out various balance exercises which were varied, added to and adjusted over ensuing visits and continued at home. I found these to be helpful.
The Occupational Therapist asked me if I could describe my problems and concerns and over a number of visits she carried out a number of memory and observational tests. From these conversations and tests she was able to suggest different methods and strategies of coping, all of which I found useful and I realised I had already put some of these in place.
Just speaking to her I found very helpful, I knew she understood where I was coming from and gave me confidence to voice my concerns.
I only saw a limited number of the staff, but the atmosphere in general was calm, unrushed and professional.
I wish to express my sincere thanks and say “Well Done” to all and would not hesitate to recommend this team to anyone.
"My sincere thanks"
