Having just left a supermarket whilst carrying some shopping, I experienced a sudden, totally unexplained and extremely worrying collapse. Having been attended to by other shoppers, I was quickly assisted back onto my feet.
As someone who seldom attends my GP and never previously experienced such an episode, I was deeply concerned as to how this unexpected episode had occurred in the first instance and was therefore referred to Dr Kerr, Cardiology, at Lagan valley hospital.
From the outset Dr Kerr listened attentively to what had occurred both before and immediately after the unexplained collapse and followed up with a thorough, physical examination and directed that a number of cardio tests to be carried out which included:-
Echo cardiogram conducted by Cardiac physiologist, Gemma.
Tilt Table procedure, conducted by Deputy Sister Sarah and Deputy Sister Reya.
Dr. Kerr also instructed me to wear a heart monitor device which was attached that my chest continuously for 7 days.
I am delighted to report that all of the aforementioned tests proved negative and that Dr.Kerr was of the opinion having carefully examined the said results, that this unexplained collapse episode was a ‘one off’ and I had nothing unduly to worry about.
In conclusion, I would therefore like to take this opportunity of offering my sincere thanks, appreciation and gratitude, to ALL the aforementioned staff at Day Care Cardiology department of Lagan Valley hospital, (in particular Dr. Kerr) for their kindness, efficiency and professional attitude throughout the entirety of my treatment under their care. They are all a wonderful example of dedication and commitment to our NHS that we should never take for granted.
Thank you again.
