"My experience having a gynaecology surgery"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Same Day Admissions Unit Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Theatres, Recovery and Anaesthetics The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I just wanted to pay a compliment to the lovely staff who looked after me during my gynaecology surgery. You don't appreciate how important it is to have staff that are so good at their job until you are in such a vulnerable position and I know the NHS comes in for a lot of criticism sometimes so I just wanted to tell my story and have it noted how wonderful the nurses are who looked after me.

Particular thanks to Gayle in same day admissions, who was funny and so helpful, Laura and Yvonne in recovery who were lovely and so reassuring, the fantastic anaesthetist who is a handshaker and takes music requests and played the music I requested to put me at ease, and the hardworking Anna in ward 56 (she put up with a lot!) and who was so calm and professional.

Many thanks to you all and God bless the NHS.

Dear tigercf47,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience during your time in hospital. I was delighted to read that a difficult experience was made better by the caring and thoughtful actions of our teams. All of the staff are aware of how difficult it is to come to hospital and always strive to make everyone as comfortable as they can. I will share your feedback with the team and I know Gayle, Laura, Yvonne and Anna as well as everyone in the department will be happy to have helped make you feel more comfortable.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Kind Regards

Maria Boothroyd

Interim Clinical Service Manager Theatres

Dear tigercf47,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such kind and thoughtful feedback following your recent surgery. It means a great deal to the whole team to know that you felt well cared for during what can be a very vulnerable time.

I will ensure your compliments are passed on to Gayle, Laura, Yvonne, Anna, and the anaesthetist you mention – they will be delighted to know their professionalism, kindness, and humour helped put you at ease. We are very proud of our staff and it is wonderful to see their dedication recognised in this way.

Your words are truly appreciated and will provide a real boost to the team. On behalf of everyone in Gynaecology, thank you again for sharing your experience and for your kind support of the NHS.

Wishing you a smooth and comfortable recovery.

With best regards,

Nikki
