"Gynecology/hysteroscopy"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services

(as the patient),

I had been experiencing issues with fertility and irregular bleeding for a long time so I had a referral to gynecology and they said I had a polyp in my uterus, they explained I needed a hysteroscopy, this was explained in detail at this appointment I was told its a non invasive procedure done using a local anesthetic to numb the cervix, I was happy to proceed. My appointment came through at the womens day center at ARI and, they attempted the procedure with the local anesthetic but it was too painful, so it was stopped and I was referred to have it done under general anesthetic, during my wait time which was just over 2 and a half years at this point, it was cancelled 6 times at short notice, one appointment being particularly bad as they decided to not to a general anesthetic and attempt a spinal instead, during this procedure all staff involved were more concerned about my weight, made me feel as if i was an inconvenience to them, and made me feel as if i was too heavy to have any medical procedure done, which gave me alot of anxiety around going under anesthetic and because I had been treated as if I wasn't deserving of their help because of my weight.

I was never given a follow up appointment or scan to check the growth of the polyp or condition of my uterus. During this waiting time I was also told that NHS no longer to 'in office hysteroscopys' this was the gynecologist that did my procedure under general anesthetic in June this year, I felt I was gaslit and made to belive this appointment and attempted procedure did not happen.
I had my hysteroscopy and was told they didnt find any polyps or abnormalities in my uterus but they had taken samples to send to pathology, the Dr didn't tell me what they were looking for, what tests were being carried out ect. I then waited 9 weeks for the results to come back from pathology, the letter I received had 3 lines with no information in regards to the findings or test results from pathology. I have belived for nearly 3 years that the issues I am experiencing are due to a polyp and am no further on with anything.
