I seen a consultant psychiatrist privately my mental health privately due to failures within NHS such as no diagnosis/investigation into why I was so ill (and umpteen rejected psychiatric referrals and block of entry level CBT about breathing which I felt was a waste of my time).
After a year of screening and intense assessments privately, I was diagnosed with 2 forms of moderate-severe level ADHD & Asperger's Syndrome, now known as ASD. This diagnosis was given to my GP who chose to prescribe recommended medication from my private consultant level psychiatrist.
I came to a point in my life where my finances changed and I could no longer afford private medical care, so my GP referred me to Psychiatry with my new diagnosis, looking for them to take over my care. They rejected my referral and advised they want paperwork breaking down the diagnosis in detail, making sure it followed certain diagnostic criteria to meet guidelines. This information was collated and gathered over a period of months as well as a full DIVA assessment in detail. Also attached was a full explanation of how the Asperger's was present in early childhood through to adulthood and explaining the link between the ASD and ADHD based on assessments.
This referral was again rejected by EK CMHT as it was stated it is inappropriate referral. I am absolutely sick to my stomach being pushed away, and the barriers been placed in my path to stop me accessing mental health assistance is shocking. A young woman like myself simply looking for my care to be managed by psychiatrist within NHS and I have been faced with yet again another rejected referral.
Sick of being treated like this. Is it because I'm not threatening to jump off a bridge no one wants to give me their time of day?
