"Very disappointed with this experience"

About: Amwell Surgery

(as the patient),

I called my GP surgery for an emergency appointment, I was told to fill in an Econsult form and to wait for an appointment.

The reason for me trying to get an appointment was an eczema flare up which was preventing me from sleep, I was in constant discomfort, and had tried changing my cosmetics, emollients, Eumovate steroid cream, icing etc.

I spoke to a pharmacist who told me I need to speak with my GP.

3 weeks later my GP appointment happens and I had asked for advice on the eczema and daily hives which I have been experiencing for some time.

The GP seemed barely interested in my concerns, and was insistent that there's nothing they can do for hives and that I should have called for an emergency appointment so that they could assess the eczema in its flared up state.

When I told the GP I had tried to call for an emergency appointment and was given a standard appointment following an econsult, I was told if I had put photos on the econsult I could have been seen faster. I had attached photos to the econsult.

I was told by the GP that I should have visited a pharmacist.  I had already done that 3 week prior. I was told that I would not be given steroid tablets and that I would need to be experiencing severe eczema to qualify, and also advised to simply go to urgent care next time. And was also not spoken to about my concerns with my hives or my request for an allergy skin prick test.

I left the surgery very discouraged and feeling as though I had wasted the GPs time and with absolutely no advice I hadn't already figured out myself. Very disappointed with this experience and lack of compassion.
