"No questions asked about how she would manage"

About: Rotherham Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

My daughter fell, banged her head and couldn’t move her leg. She was brought to urgent care at Rotherham hospital by ambulance .

She was advised that she had fractured her fibula and was sent home with crutches and cocodamol . She couldn’t use the crutches as she had hurt her shoulder. She wasn’t kept in and monitored for her head injury.

Three days later, still no appointments available for the fracture clinic. We have had to move her a bed downstairs and get her a commode. No questions asked in the hospital about how she would manage.

It’s ridiculous and disgusting treatment

Hello, my name is Samantha, Head of Patient Experience and Involvement at the Hospital. I am sorry to read of your daughter's recent experience. It is always our intention to provide the best service possible and as such disappointing when our services fall below the expectations of our patients and their families.

May I ask that you please contact the Patient Experience Team (PET), as we would like to look into this further on your daughter’s behalf. The contact the PET on 01709 424461 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. The PET will ask you to share some personal details in order for us to investigate this matter for you, alternatively you can email the PET at the following address, your.experience@nhs.net once again please include both your daughters details and your own contact details.

Kindest regards Samantha
