"You gave us our Mum back"

About: Cameron Hospital / Recovery & rehabilitation Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre

(as a relative),

I am writing on behalf of my Mum.

My Mum received a full knee replacement in March. We have taken time before posting on the procedure to make sure everything was fine.  She received her new knee at The National Treatment Centre - Fife Orthopaedics at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

The pre-op care, operation and post-op care was exemplary as was the fantastic food provided in the form of three meals a day plus snacks and beverages.   She had been in incredible pain before the operation and was so nervous about it, but the staff made her feel so at ease and the operation was and has been a huge success!

For anybody who has surgery planned I can only say you will receive the absolute best care there is, it does take a little hard work afterwards and yes there will be short term pain while healing which the doctor will control, but the benefits truly are just wonderful. My Mum is literally a changed woman!

Thank you to all the staff involved in her case, my Mum and the whole family cannot thank you enough.  You gave us our Mum back.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback. All feedback received is valued and appreciated, as this allows our team to reflect on our clinical practice and make constructive changes, to improve service delivery. We also love to hear about how our patients are doing following their operations and how this has impacted their lives.

The National Treatment Centre team aims to provide care which is coordinated, person centred and of high quality. We hope all experiences within the National Treatment Centre are a positive one. Therefore, it is great to know that you felt the care provided throughout your mum’s journey was of good quality. I am pleased to know that the food and fluids offered met your expectations, as nutritional intake is a very important aspect in the recovery process.

It is rewarding to know that staff helped to reduce your mum’s anxiety, by making her feel at ease. We hope all patients in our care feel safe and reassured when attending for their operation, as this can be a daunting experience.

Furthermore, I am glad that the operation has been a success and your mum has regained a better quality of life.

I truly appreciate your kind words and will pass these onto our NTC team. I am sure they will be pleased to know that your mum is recovering well.

Thank you and take care,

Briony Klos
