"an invaluable service"

About: Rapid Response Teams / Rapid response team Derry/ Londonderry

(as a service user),

I was so pleased to be able to attend the Rapid Response unit in Gransha Park instead of having to remain in hospital, due to my illness, Staphylococcus bacteria in my spine required 6 weeks of IV medication 4 times daily.

By having a picline installed I had to attend rapid response once daily to have my pinpard ABX attached I was allowed to go home to recuperate. I feel that it would have taken any longer if I had have remained in hospital. The staff appear very knowledgeable and explained what was being done at each appointment. I cannot say how the service could be improved, only to say that I found the service a lifesaver for me and a great way to allow patients to have their medications once daily instead of numerous times.

I feel that this is an invaluable service and should continue to be rolled out to patients who are fit enough to go home and not require constant hospital admissions.

Hello,

My name is Catherine Carson, and I am a Staff Nurse with the Rapid Response Nursing Team - Derry.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a complementary review of the services that you received. Our staff strive to ensure a safe, competent and comfortable space for patients to attend. It is good to know that being able to receive the Antibiotics once daily instead of four times a day, helped to normalise this process.

I will feed your kind words back to all the staff and we will continue to provide this clinical service, withn the community for those requiring it and who prefer not to stay in a hospital bed and are fit enough to do so.

Many thanks again.

Regards

Catherine,
