As of recent times, butter has been removed from patients menu in Omagh renal unit. I request you to please stop using the newly supplied BEBO spread as part of our meals. I feel BEBO is beyond consumption and should not be used in any environment.
Maybe you are unaware of the day to day functioning of the unit, but it is common knowledge that a lot of patients who are elderly, perhaps live alone, travel long distances etc, depend on the meals in here. Some patients spend as much as 6 plus hours away from their homes so it is imperative to their health that they can have some sustenance. Witnessing patients unable to eat their food due to this is nothing more than appalling.
Surely an alternative Irish or British made product can be used, rather than this cheaply manufactured, unconsumable product imported from Eastern Europe.
Furthermore, as you are more than aware, food safety is paramount to patients within the Western trust, if you take food standards and hygiene seriously, then there is going to be a serious incident as a large proportion of highly vulnerable patients are bringing their own butter from home into the unit on a daily basis. I'm sure you are acutely aware of the risks that this action poses, and if any serious incident were to occur, no doubt, this will end up a very consequential matter for the trust.
I'd appreciate it if you would look into this matter and resolve it soon
I look forward to a positive outcome
Thankyou
