I attended an appointment with the cardiology department to have an ECG monitor fitted. My appointment was finished within 15 minutes, and I was on my way home. I walked to the bus stop. About 10 minutes into waiting for the bus, I started to feel unwell and had to sit down, then my vision went blurry and everything was spinning around, so I had to slide off the seat at the bus stop onto the floor. I called 999 but was told it was not an emergency and an ambulance would not be arriving; however, I was expected to expect a call from 111.
Just after the 999 call was ended a lady came from across the road to ask if I needed any help which I did as I could not stand and was dizzy, this lady then saw a security guard on the hospital site and asked him for some assistance which he kindly arranged for other security staff to help and within a couple of minutes I had three nurses providing assistance and the security guards stopping traffic so they could wheel me to A&E, unfortunately the nurses had to struggle with the wheel chair as it would not go in a straight line when pushed. The lady who came to my assistance was about to start her shift at the hospital, and I hope she was not in any trouble for starting late.
If possible, I would like to thank the nurses and security guards and the lady who came to my assistance and would be grateful if you could pass this on to them for me, please.
Now I would like to bring to your attention to the condition of the toilet in the Cardiology department, which did not work, and the floor had brown marks on it and looked dirty. Also, I was shocked to see the decorating in the Cardiology waiting area looking shabby. I also noticed that while I was on ward 21, which is where I was transferred to that the mobile beds had dirty wheels! This may be normal and acceptable, but to a patient, it concerned me. Also, I can not understand why the toilets do not have coat hooks to hang one's coat on while using the toilet. I had to place my coat on the floor unless I just missed the hooks.
"The help your staff provided me when I needed it."
