My husband had a fall in Glasgow and was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. It was about 8pm and he was admitted to A&E who were very busy but very efficient.
My husband has a lower leg amputation and has a prosthetic limb. He had broken his hip and was operated on and transferred to Ward 62 at the same hospital. What a shambles...
Ward was very untidy, seemed unorganised and staff kept saying will be back in 2 minutes and never came back, to the point that he soiled himself.
His false tooth was in a small container which was binned by a support worker. When he spoke to nurse about it the response was - maybe the tooth fairy will bring you a new one. Another nurse said did he expect one of their charities to go short to pay for his tooth.
The physio tried to force him up and about and at one point had to apologise for saying he was the only one in the bay not willing to do physio. My husband was in agony.
One breakfast he had asked for a roll with jam and butter. He got the jam and butter but no rolls left....really?
He has had a lot of experience in hospitals and he has had far better experiences. . We should have complained at the time but my husband was just glad to get home.
