"Tongue swelled up"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Ear, Nose & Throat University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / Intensive Care Unit

(as a service user),

My tongue swelled up and struggling to breathe. Had to have tracheostomy  and ventilated for few days. Wouldn't be here now if it was not for fabulous nurses and doctors in intensive care unit  After few days was transferred to ward 11 who gave me fabulous care. It was very frightening  experience but the nurses were so great in calming you down

Nurses were just wonderful in ICU and ENT consultant Dr Rattray I think she was called

Not forgetting casualty staff who again were all wonderful

Dear Bunty30

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback after what has clearly been a very difficult and worrying time. I am so glad to read that after such a serious event you able to be transferred to ward 11 for ongoing care.

I will share your comments with all the teams you have mentioned as they will appreciate your kind words and will also be reassured of your progress.

Thank you again for thinking of others.

I wish you all the best going forward

Kind regards

Lise
