Our mum, who in her early 90s, was in hospital three times between May and June (25). On her last visit, she was offered Hospital at Home care — and from start to finish, the service was outstanding.
After being admitted through triage, she stayed overnight in the hospital. Even though she was on a bed in the corridor, the staff treated her with such kindness and attention. The ambulance crew who brought her in were equally caring — they even returned a few hours later with cups of tea for her and my sister, a small gesture that meant so much.
Once home, the Hospital at Home team visited twice a day to administer intravenous antibiotics, check her vital signs, and make sure she was comfortable. The nurses were not only professional but warm and reassuring, and on two occasions, two consultants came in person to provide care and advise on her progress and review her medication.
At every stage, we felt supported and reassured. The respect, compassion, and professionalism shown by the nurses, the consultant, and everyone involved was exceptional. As a family, we’re deeply grateful for this service and feel incredibly lucky to have access to it.
The best news of all — Mum is now recovering well. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped her through.
