"Saturday night care"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Ayrshire Doctor on Call (ADOC) NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service)

(as the patient),

I realized I had a urinary problem. I looked it up online and drank lots of water but it was painful to pee and I felt shivery and had a sore stomach. It got worse and my daughter told me to phone 111.

I told my story and a nurse phoned back arranging an appointment at Crosshouse. I was really relieved as it was a Saturday evening The Lister Centre was easy for my husband to find. There a Dr examined me, took a sample and found a UTI was present.

I was so pleased to get antibiotics on a Saturday evening.

The doctor was gentle and reassuring.  By the Sunday I felt better.

Not sure if I thanked her adequately!

Dear Avril6

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story on Care Opinion. I noticed that your story mentioned a few different services, and I am replying on behalf of NHS 24.

I was sorry to hear that you had to contact 111 due to experiencing urinary discomfort. However, I am delighted to learn about the positive patient journey you had and that NHS 24 played a part in your care. From the initial call to the 111 service to the care you received at The Lister Centre location within Crosshouse Hospital, it is wonderful to hear that you felt better the following morning after being prescribed some antibiotics.

If you would like to share more information with me, including your Care Opinion username, I can locate the staff you spoke with from NHS 24 and share your story with them. We always strive to ensure that our staff receive feedback so they can see how much their care is valued when people call our services.

You can contact me by email at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Thank you once again for sharing your story

Kind regards

Dear Avril6

With my apologies for the length of time it has taken me to reply to you, I would like to add my thanks to those of my colleague, Lynne, in NHS 24 for taking the time and trouble to share this lovely feedback about the care provided by the Ayrshire out of Hours Service within University Hospital Crosshouse.

When times are challenging, it’s always nice to hear such positive feedback from our patients and it will be my pleasure to share your lovely comments with the wider Team in the Department.

Please accept my best wishes and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
