"Staff were all so caring and reassuring"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 2 (Emergency Surgical) Victoria Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I cannot thank all the NHS staff I came across enough for the care I received.

From the paramedic/ambulance staff who took me to the hospital and kept me calm and as pain free as possible whilst waiting outside, even though the first crew had to stay an hour after their finishing time to allow another team to take over.

From here into majors who were also amazing, then into AU2.

Staff were all so caring and reassuring despite being so busy. Always checking that everyone was OK, dealing with their pain and sickness.

Then the staff in Ward 52 were all outstanding. Nurses Chloe and Kevin especially. So knowledgeable, caring and supportive. Had such great bedside manners, keeping everyone as cheery as possible.

Surgical team was amazing also, and talked me through everything very well.

Auxiliary and cleaning staff always very cheery and did a great job.

Dear Arwen44,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’m really pleased to hear that our ambulance crew were able to support you with care and reassurance during what must have been a very difficult time.

It’s especially appreciated that you recognised the team’s dedication in staying beyond their scheduled hours to ensure a smooth handover. We know how important it is to feel calm and as comfortable as possible during moments like these and I’m glad our staff were able to help in that way.

If you’re happy to do so, we’d love to match your story with the crew involved so we can share your kind words with them directly. If you could email us at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, date, time and address of the call out and include your Care Opinion username, we’ll make sure your message reaches the team.

Warmest wishes,
Marie
