"Warmth & compassion from A&E doctor"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

Dad was admitted with a bleed in his eye. Dr Harry in ED was an absolute SAINT! Despite waiting 16 hours before seeing a doctor, Dr Harry's attitude and approach helped massively. He diagnosed Dad with a TIA, and although the news was not what we were expecting, Dr Harry was so so lovely. He took time to explain things in brilliant detail and really reassured my Dad, and went above and beyond to find somewhere private we could talk.

My dad was admitted to A&E with a bleed in his eye and, after a very long wait (16 hours before being seen, and 21 hours in total), we were fortunate enough to be looked after by Dr Harry in ED, and he was an absolute saint!

Although the diagnosis of a TIA was not what we had expected, Dr Harry’s kindness, compassion and professionalism made such a difference. He took the time to explain everything in clear detail, making sure Dad fully understood what had happened and why. He even found us a private space to talk, which was so thoughtful after such a long and stressful wait.

Dr Harry went above and beyond. He not only provided some insight into Dad’s ongoing heart issues but also introduced a treatment option that had not yet been discussed with him before, explaining carefully what it does and why it might help. His thoroughness and patience were truly appreciated.

He also took my situation into account, as my leg is in a brace, so I cannot sit easily, and kindly found us a room with a bed so I could sit comfortably. Before even starting with Dad, he asked after me first, which was incredibly thoughtful considering the busyness of ED.

When we left, he wished us both all the very best with such genuine warmth. His humanity, care and professionalism shone through at every stage. We cannot thank Dr Harry enough. He turned a challenging experience into one where we felt genuinely cared for. He is an absolute credit to his profession and to the NHS - thank you.

Thank you Sunpf58 for taking the time to share your recent experience of the Emergency department care you received in CAH. Firstly I wish to apologise for the long wait which your father experienced awaiting to be seen and assessed by the Doctor. It is lovely to hear about how caring and compassionate Dr Hari was towards your father. I hope your father is recovering well. I will share your kind words with Dr Hari.

Thanks

Stacey
