"Wasted precious time over mistakes"

About: Maternity care / Ante-Natal Clinic

(as the patient),

I was up for my routine antenatal check up with the OB recently. The clinic was crammed with so many patients and I understand it’s going to be a long wait until I get seen. Fast forward to 2 and a half hours later, I overheard the a staff member mention to another that my green book/file was just sitting in one corner when they had already seen me— obviously I won’t be called unless assumed seen by one of the staff first for my obs to be taken and urine sample examination to be done. I was baffled. Then they presumed I was meant to be seen by the cardio team and took my green book/file to the cardio station. Upon seeing this, I respectfully told them I am definitely not here for my cardio appointment but instead have been waiting to be seen by the OB. They checked this on their computer and verified the information. I mean, were they not aware of this beforehand? Only then was my file lined up with the ones to be seen by the OB. No apologies made.

I looked around and everyone else who came after me already left. I felt like a joke to them. 3 hours later and I was trying my best not to cry out of frustration. Disappointing service, disappointing staff behaviour. The only upside to this visit was the fact that I was seen by Dr. Cooke — who, God bless her, is the best doctor I have ever dealt with.
