"You are really doing an amazing job"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

I was recently called back to the Forrest Centre after my first mammogram - this terrified me. The level of care I received was outstanding, right from the first call to check I’d received my appointment letter. Every member of staff showed total compassion and helped put me at ease. I had another mammogram, ultrasound and examination.

The consultant told me I needed a biopsy which terrified me even more especially as my husband couldn’t come in with me. Again the level of care and compassion I received was outstanding. They kept me calm throughout the process. I was given an appointment to come back for my results the next week. Again on the run up to this I was terrified but again when I arrived I was treated with the same level of outstanding care and compassion. I was lucky and only had some abnormal cells - the consultant talk me through exactly what this meant and what would happen next. I was given an appointment for the following week to have a vacuum assisted extraction - again I was terrified. I turned up for the appointment and yet again received an amazing level of care and compassion. Final appointment a week later to get results again and all good. I’ve now been marked down to receive yearly mammograms for the next 5 years to monitor.

The long and the short of it I was absolutely blown away by the speed and level of care I received. Thank you to everyone at the centre - you are really doing an amazing job

Good morning,

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave feedback on your experience at NGH.

It is wonderful to read that the level of care you received from the staff at the Forrest Centre was outstanding, and that the staff showed care and compassion and put you at ease during such a scary time.

It is so important that our patients feel safe, cared for and communicated with so that they understand what is happening to them whilst they are in our care.

I will share your kind words with the staff that were involved in your treatment and care - who I am sure will be thrilled to receive this.
