"Chairs in waiting room"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was sick- had to attend ED!

I am aware of challenges, pressures and keeping patients away from front doors. However we had to sit in the metal, in the most uncomfortable chairs I have sat on in years. I can not compare them to any other area or place

Dignity, respect, patient centred care - The seats are not in keeping with these values given the long wait time

Dear branxt36,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your recent visit to our Emergency Department with your son. I’m very sorry to hear that the seating arrangements caused discomfort during what was already a stressful time.

We fully acknowledge the importance of dignity, respect, and patient-centred care, and I regret that the environment did not reflect these values for you. Your feedback about the chairs is valid and appreciated — long waiting times can be challenging, and comfort plays a significant role in how patients and families experience care.

Please be assured that your concerns have been shared with our facilities and patient experience teams. We are actively reviewing the seating in our waiting areas to ensure it better supports the needs of our patients and their families.

Thank you again for raising this issue.

Best wishes,

Julie.
