"Help I have had the past week or two"

About: Bristol Royal Infirmary / Pain Management Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I felt unwell, and visited several different facilities over the time.

I notice none of my recent test results are visible on this mycare site which I hoped they would be, I am still suffering from pain and would find it helpful for trying to analyse the problem.

The doctors and nurses and receptionist have all been very helpful and friendly .

At BRI I was given naproxen for pain, I have some been recommended against using that for my condition.

At Exeter hospital I was given a clear bowl with no lid to take to the toilet as a urine sample, carrying it back full of urine through a waiting room felt a little embarrassing it would have been better in a smaller container or with a paper bath or lid but it’s fine.

I’ve felt very cared for even though we haven’t figured out the issue yet.

Kind regards

Dear librafe79,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the care you received while in our department.

I’m sorry to hear that you felt embarrassed while carrying the urine container without a lid. I understand how this may have been uncomfortable for you.

We use this type of container to help ensure that the urine sample remains sterile, which is important for conducting accurate tests, including those for infection or pregnancy. That said, your experience highlights an opportunity for us to consider ways we can maintain clinical standards while also being mindful of patient dignity.

Your feedback is valuable, and I will share it with the team for further reflection and discussion.

Wishing you all the best in your recovery.

Dear librafe79

Thank you for providing feedback regarding your recent attendance at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

In response to your query regarding test results being released to MyCare. There is a delay in their release and this is dependant on a clinician viewing them and releasing them, or them being automatically released after a period of time eg blood results are released at two weeks. We are looking into this as we are aware that blood results taken at GP practices are released almost immediately but currently that is the reason why you cannot see your test results in MyCare.

I would hope that you have been given some information following your attendance and that if there was any concerning abnormalities with your results your care team would have been in contact.

Unfortunately I am unable to offer any further advice as we don't get sufficient patient details in this feedback to investigate in any detail. However, if you do have further concerns I would suggest contacting your GP in the first instance.

In the meantime I hope you get some resolution in your condition soon.

Best wishes.

Jane
